Sarah and I have taken up the hobby of having a few beers and watching the worst B-movies we can find. This has turned out to be just as entertaining as watching real movies, plus we’re never disappointed. Big-budget action or Oscar-nominated drama sometimes don’t appeal to both of us, but low-grade B sci-fi is universally loved.

Anyways, we managed to get our hands on one that’s been eluding us for quite a while: Starcrash. This is an Italian Star-Wars knock-off that has David Hasselhoff fighting the evil Count Zarth Arn with a laser-sword (NOT a light-sabre, that would be copyright infringement…)

I don’t want to spoil any of it, but this movie is a MUST-SEE for anyone who loves bad movies. A quick rundown of the greatness: A hillbilly police robot, a main heroine who spends most of the movie in a leather space-bikini, and of course, David Hasselhoff.

Finally, to whet your appetite, here’s my favorite quote from the movie, delivered by The Emperor of the Galaxy, played by Christopher Plummer: “Imperial Battleship…Halt the flow of time!” That’s a pretty sweet power!

Yep, since no one is posting on this blog, I’ve resorted to showing off a new shower curtain my mother sent me from Iowa. Since our house was built in the late 40s, I’m playing with that mid-century modern/kitch era. I think it’s pretty nifty.

Micah and I recently moved into our new house and are now trying to get grass to grow in the lawn. (Yes, the most exciting thing in our lives right now is watching the grass grow and thinking about grass grow when we can’t watch.) The house was built in the late 1940s in Midway Woods, a neighborhood just south of Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA. Although it’s not very big by todays standards, for the two of us it’s huge– consisting of a whopping four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Our dog now officially has her own room, spending a few moments of every day lounging on the guest bed before chasing grass-seed-eating doves in the back yard. If you’re ever in Atlanta, please let us know, we have lots of space and would be glad to have you.

Micah recently rode in a charity bikeride at Emory University for victims of Hurricane Katrina. The twenty mile ride raised money for the Red Cross and local rescue efforts here in Atlanta. With him are two Georgia Tech Research Institute co-workers, Kyle and Bart– both also avid bike commuters. Although they didn’t come in first, they finished the intown route in good time and got some free barbecue sandwiches at the Emory Homecoming festivities.
