We finished the gate at 8 PM on Sunday evening. The entire project took us around 18 hours over a couple days. Luckily, we only had to make 3 trips to the hardware store in that period.

We still have to finish the left side of the gate after we remove a very old steel post, once used for a long-gone chainlink fence.

Honestly, Micah did the sawing, nailing and affixing. I mainly stood around, watching and helping position planks. The fence style is called Alternate Board Fencing

Sexy New Fence

After much consultation with the Home Depot How-To Book and Lowe’s Guide to Landscaping, Micah layed out plans to build us a new gate. Here he is plumming so we know were to dig the posts.

Old Janky Gate

This is the gate we’ve been living with since we moved in. The old owners put it in probably 3-5 years ago. It’s all saggy and crappy. (Security Dog not included)
