Sarah’s friend Holly is trying to set up an online store to sell her custom-made pottery. Since Sarah and I are both fairly computer-saavy, we offered to help.

Last night, we found just how easy it is to set up an online store using osCommerce, an open-source storefront. Bluehost, who hosts this blog, fully supports osCommerce and even has a tool called Fantastico that walks you through the setup procedure.

So, after fiddling around for a while, I ended up with…”micah_store”, my very own storefront on the web. Take a look at: http://wedemeyers.net/micah_store. This is the default store that is initially set up by Fantastico.

It is incredibly amazing how easy it was. It seriously took me less than an hour to get set up, and I could do it now in probably 10 minutes.

Now, I just need to figure how what I can sell!
