Savannah trip with Sandy

Sarah and I went with her mother to Savannah, GA. Sarah had a conference presentation to make about her website, Southern Spaces and we thought we’d make a vacation of it.
As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, so here are several thousand words’ worth:

These are some pictures of Sarah and her fellow Emory presenters, Zeb and Jay. Zeb has the suit and Jay is the one with the devil horns.

Savannah is very bicycle friendly. The streets are flat and wide, and there are plenty of bike racks. SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) students seem to depend heavily on their bicycles to get around. Or, if you don’t want to pedal, you can rent a scooter-mobile (the little 2-seater seen above), although it’s pretty expensive. I think it’s only meant for tourists.

We ate at a small dive that sold sushi and teriyaki stuff. The prices were tiny, but the portions were huge. A nice, cheap restaurant is always a good find.

A couple pictures of us goofing off next to the river. Merchants were getting set up for Octoberfest. We actually bought one of the little copper lizard thingies. Sandy got me one for my birthday. Hopefully, we’ll put it out on the porch somewhere to scare people.
