Sunday Oct 25 after waiting for the fog to lift Gary Payne and I took off in his Challenger2 but when we got to about 200 feet above the runway the engine lost power. We were too low to return to the runway so the safest alternative was the river so we ditched. The fabric on the bottom tore open on impact and the thing filled with water immediately. I held my breath while opening the door and releasing my seatbelt. It was kind of scary. We both swam to shore. The FAA and NTSB ruled it an incident rather than accident so I don’t have to file many lengthy reports.
